Animal Care Assistant

About the role

Holbrook Animal Rescue Charity in Horsham West Sussex are looking for a part-time experienced mature animal care assistant for immediate start. This is a live in position, with private, self-contained single accommodation - full details will be discussed at the interview stage. There will also be a requirement for full time to cover for holidays etc.


Holbrook is a kennel free rescue so applicants must have experience dealing with various types of dogs and be confident dealing with a variety of situations. You'll be feeding, grooming, walking and cleaning. Also ensuring the well-being
of all dogs and other animals. Holbrook animal rescue prides itself on being a kennel free rescue where the
dogs get to roam our facility. Due to us being a kennel free rescue, confidence around dogs is a must, we provide constant sanctuary for multiple types of animals that may find it difficult to find home for various reasons. They all thrive
with us here at the centre but may come with certain behavioural quirks that will need addressing.

 

Responsibilities


The role also involves daily care of our horses, sheep, goats, chickens, cats & other small animals we provide sanctuary for. Full training in our procedures will be given. The rescue centre is obviously a non-smoking environment.

  • The ideal candidate would need to have a background in animal care.

  • Experience around a variety of dogs and other animals

  • Be able to co-ordinate volunteers and deal with visitors

  • Able to work individually and as part of a team

  • Able to show initiative in situations and problem solve

  • Be confident dealing with dogs in a large group

  • Comply with all health and safety procedures


Salary:


This is a self-employed position
£12 per hour.

There will be additional payment for holiday cover.
