Volunteers are so important to us, we couldn't function without them. However it's not just dog walking and poo picking that is needed, there are people who work behind the scenes and make a huge contribution to the work we do.

Fundraising Team Opportunities

With a relocation on the horizon, now is an important time to join the team as we have a large fundraising target to hit. We are searching for people to join our passionate fundraising team on a voluntary basis to help with the essential tasks that allow us to keep the rescue running. There are 3 roles available but these can be combined or kept separate depending on your availability. 

Hours: 4 to 5 per week

Base: Certain aspects of these roles must be undertaken in-person due to the nature of the tasks involved.

Volunteer events and partnerships co-ordinator

  1. Organise and attend seasonal events, such as local fetes and fairs (approx. 1-2 days a month during spring / summer and around 2-3 events leading up to Christmas)

  2. Help to organise specific Holbrook Animal Rescue fundraising events such as pub quizzes or online auctions

  3. Where directed by the fundraising managers, approach new potential funding and donor partners.

  4. Deliver commitments relating to charity partnerships, for example, attending corporate events, writing copy, responding to enquiries.


Basic marketing experience such as copywriting, event organisation and pitching to new partners, is desirable. However we are happy to train enthusiastic people who want to learn and make a difference.


Volunteer fundraising admin assistant

  1. Monitor emails and reply to fundraising enquiries, escalating to the fundraising managers where required.

  2. Monitor fundraising activity and ensure that our supporters receive acknowledgement and thanks

  3. Maintain a spreadsheet to identify monetary donations

  4. Help develop our sponsorship scheme including production of a newsletter

For this position you must be highly organised and sympathetic, since many of our donations are received in people’s most vulnerable times, such as a death in the family or a personal challenge such as a marathon. It would be beneficial for this role to have some basic marketing experience such as copywriting, however we are happy to train enthusiastic people who want to learn and make a difference.


Volunteer social media assistant

  1. Gather images and videos from the animal care team to use in social media content (specifically Instagram and TikTok, but could also include Facebook and YouTube)

  2. Create and publish short videos and other content for our social channels

  3. Create written content such as blogs and submit to fundraising manager and owners for approval

  4. Reach out to influencers to spread our message, and manage that relationship with the support of the fundraising managers


You must have some social media and writing experience for this role, whether it be in an official capacity or simply making content for your own friends and family. If you have a flair for it, we would love you on the team.


Animal Rehoming Coordinator (Dogs and other animals)

Hours: Minimum 4 per week

Base: Home working (will need to supply own equipment)

  1. Liaise with people who want to rehome their animals, respond to emails and liaise with HAR Principal

  2. Promote animals available for adoption including posting on social media and providing details for the website

  3. Review and liaise with applicants and share suitable candidates with the HAR Principal

  4. Organise meet and greet appointments, liaising with shift leads as appropriate

  5. Organise home checks

  6. Prepare adoption papers, ensure relevant documentation i.e. passports, are available

  7. Provide post adoption support

You will need to be organised, a good communicator and have basic IT skills


Volunteer Coordinator

Hours: Minimum 4 per week

Base: Home working (will need to supply own equipment)

  1. Maintain a schedule of current shift volunteers*, identifying vacancies as and when they occur

  2. Liaise with shift leads regarding recruitment of new volunteers

  3. Liaise with website administrator regarding recruitment

  4. Deal with volunteer enquiries including email and telephone

  5. Arrange inductions, prepare volunteer agreements and ensure they are signed

  6. Organise corporate volunteer days

  7. Keep a waiting list of potential shift volunteers

  8. Deal with enquires regarding small goods donations NOT money

  9. Approve requests to join facebook page

You will need to be organised, a good communicator and have basic IT skills

* shift volunteers are those volunteers who provide hands on support at the rescue centre
