Bertie – Cockapoo
Age 22 months
Neutered and vaccinated
Dogs – To be homed with a companion dog
Cats – No cats
Children – No children

Dogs – Bertie constantly wants to play and interact with other dogs when out on walks. Due to Bertie’s anxiety (please read additional information) we feel he would benefit from being homed with a confident, playful companion dog to learn from.

Cats – Bertie has high prey drive and will chase cats and small furries.

Children:
Bertie will not be homed with children, the energy and excitement that surrounds children is too much for Bertie to cope with and causes him to become anxious. (see additional information)

Personality:
Bertie is a highly energetic, loving, intelligent and obedient dog. He is not an aggressive dog and although he suffers with anxiety he has never gone out of his way to cause harm however he will defended himself at times where he feels vulnerable, if his warnings are ignored or his request for space is disregarded.

Bertie’s owners have invested a lot of time training and settling Bertie since they had him and he very much part of the family but due to a change in the family dynamics the home is now too busy for Bertie to cope with.

Bertie loves attention however he needs his space, he is not a dog that will cope well with attention from strangers unless he is comfortable with them and the attention is invited. When Bertie becomes anxious he will guard his toys and food, this has been successfully managed in his current home by understanding Bertie’s anxiety and managing situations to allow him to feel at ease.

Bertie doesn’t cope well with changes; he becomes quite anxious and will take time to settle however he does respond well to training. Consistency, routine and management are key to Bertie feeling secure within his environment and once these are in place Bertie is a happy, content little dog.

Suitable home:
Bertie needs an experienced home. Sadly, he has already had two homes in his short life and due to the change of circumstances in his current home it is now necessary for him to be rehomed again. We will be looking for a home with experience in dogs that suffer anxieties, needing space and confidence building. Bertie would benefit from living with a confident companion dog to learn from.

Bertie needs a quiet home with not too many people in and out, his new family really must understand that he becomes quite anxious in certain situations within the home and will need to work on this and respect this side of Bertie, while committing to help Bertie gain self-confidence.

Additional Information:
At only two years old Bertie is looking for his forever-home. Bertie is a very much loved part of his family but due to a change in circumstances the very hard to decision to rehome Bertie was made, this decision was made with Bertie’s best interests at heart.
